I hope to see a lot of familiar faces in May. But is the rumour true that we will not be celebrating with golden Palace eggrolls?!

Hey Everyone: Great work on the website and good to hear the news from old Woody. I left Ottawa with my family in '73 but would have graduated in'76. Leslie, Wendy, Robin Tench as well. Hope to be there in May but living in Vancouver now with my wife and 12 year old, Jessica. My sisters still live in the Ottawa- Toronto area so I'll pass it on. Working as an actor and spent time in England, New York and Los Angeles. No longer have a tuba but if I'm there I'll sit in with the band, I switched to guitar, more portable. All the best everyone and have a great one. Cheers  John Tench

Where are all the Classmates of 63, 64 and 65 and the teachers of those first 5 years gone.  In those years we were all younger but I have great memories of some crazy and good times.
Does any one remember the sox-hop and the song Hit the Road Jack when we dedicted it to Mr. Merkley in fun and how angry he got?  I think I made that dedication or at least cc31I think I did.

Oh well I hope someone posts pictures, I would really love to see fotos from the 70's maybe someone will post some on the facebook or classmates web sites!!
Have a great time and dont get too drunk at the creek!!!    Ann Ferland

In October 1970, a group of 60 students staged a “sit-out” on the back lawn of the high school. The Ottawa Journal cited this as “the first major open confrontation on an Ottawa secondary school campus”. Police were called at one point as students hurled insults and profanity at their teachers and principal. The students were protesting “inhumane treatment and petty rules”. The ringleader of the protest had been expelled the previous day for failing to obey a school rule to stay inside the school during a study period. Students cited other irritants including rules regarding boys’ hair length, that students had to raise their hands in class to ask to go to the washroom (and were sometimes denied permission), and that a jacket and tie was the dress code for school dance night. The following text from the Ottawa Journal is amusing now, although it probably was not at the time:You're right it was not amusing

Fond memories of Woodroffe High School, Mr. Merkley, Miss McCullough and Mr. Barrett. Living in Arizona in the White Mountains and managing a small resort. Think about old friends and don't get the chance to go back home very often. Moved to British Columbia and worked at Silver Star Mountain Ski Area before moving to the US 20 years ago.
I wish you all the best at your 50th Reuinion, and hope to see lots of photo's and memories after the event. What a great place and a great High School, how lucky we were to share that time in the late 60's. It was the best, the very best. Wish I could be there. nd thanks to those teachers who made such a great impression and impact on my life. I feel I succeeded because of you!
Sincerely,
Wendy Forsyth Shellabarger

Even though I only went to Woodroffe for one year (Grade 12 - 1971-1972), I enjoyed seeing the people I knew from Pinecrest. All these years, I thought I had graduated, but found out last year that I didnt. I was missing one credit in English which I hated. Sadly, there are a couple of people that I wont see at the reunion, Rod Beveridge and Bev Holtom that passed away over the last few years.

I can't believe it! How can I be having a 50th High School reunion at my (perceived) age! I just heard about this reunion from Geoff Pallett out West. I've been living in Houston for the past 30+ years so I have been out of circulation to say the least. Great job on this reunion website! I can't find my Wyverns - does anyone have class pictures from 1962-1966?

Woodroffe was the best 5 and a half years of my life.   Outers club, XC skiing and running, track and field, and aquatic phys. ed. were the highlights for me.   It'll be great to see some old friends again!

I Have just finished reading the History-A Look Back and it brought back alot of memories. I attended Woody from 67 until 72 (4 year course) that I took my time at. I remember the common room(SMOKING ROOM) in the tunnel and an outdoor spot we called the Cancer tree which was at the end of the west wing. The strike was a fun day  we finally got to wear jeans as a result of it. It was a great period of time to be a teenager, drinking age had dropped in Quebec from 21 to 18 and Ontario follwed soon after. I worked at the Royal Burger, Carling and Woodroffe. And have just recently ran into others that worked there as well and went to Woody. Really looking forwrd to May

Looking forward to seeing all the former English teachers from 1986, when I was pregnant with my youngest child, Chris, and teaching in the afternoon at the former Sir John A. MacDonald H.S. Now I am out in the country, living in Almonte and ready to get out my cowgirl boots for dancin'. Good luck to everyone with getting the 50th together. Hello to Trish Morgen. All the best to all.

Hope all are well.
I went to Algonquin for a month after Woodroffe.
Left for Calgary...stayed for a year working with CP Express.
Left for Yukon and Alaska for work but came back to Ottawa.
Worked for 4 years in the Arctic with Dome Petroleum.
Went to Toronto as my brother lived there and I wanted to try and write and play music.
I lucked into a job with UofT and have been there for 25 years. I work in one of the libraries.
Married twice...divorced twice...one amazing 13 year old daughter.
Now...i'm a vegetarian, no TV, still play guitar and sing, hand drumming, photography, computer graphics and yoga and meditation.

Enjoy the party everyone.  :)
Thanks to all the Woodroffe staff who reached out to help me. Much appreciated. Not an easy job.

Hi from the valley to Alberta. Hardly wait for the reunion. I'll be back. Graduated in early 70's. Do u all recall our push to cleanup Ottawa from pollution & students cleaned up ditches, sides of roads & culverts to truck it all to the War Memorial, center Ottawa, as Woody's pack. We sang & chanted just like at our football games. Even made the paper in stories & photos. Then we respectfully cleaned after ourselves & took it all to the dump. It was the start for Pollution Probe. Woody's youth certainly got government attention & good response.  One of those never forget times as most days were at Woodroffe!

If any of my old school-mates are still around, oil up the wheels on your walkers, tune up your hearing aids and I'll see you all there. (I can't play the trombone or tuba for Mr. Manley anymore ... my dentures keep falling out).

'Old and grey, but looking forward to the day'.   Grad of 64/65.

I just turned 63 yesterday!  Yikes!  There must be someone else out there (Hi Jane!) who remembers the first year at Woodroffe in 1960 before the gym was finished and wildlife wandered in because the final wall was still a big plastic sheet.  I attended the last reunion with my three sons and husband who has since left (hooray).  I'm now in Barrhaven at Longfields-Davidson Heights S.S. 2 years from retirement.

I am serving as CoChair for the Bell High 50th and anticipating a great time to be had by all at both reunions.  If I remember correctly there was quite a rivalry between Woodroffe and Bell back in the day------------------Congrats to all.
